Flip Sprout

Miles Media built simple reading and math practice for young kids, starting with its own family. It had to be free, with no ads, no accounts and nothing that gets in the way of the card.

1. Made sight word cards: ten packs covering 92 early reading words, one big word at a time, with a button that reads it slowly.
2. Kept the cards plain, with one big word, a play button and arrows, and a small picture on only a handful of cards.
3. Built math packs from kindergarten to second grade: counting, adding and taking away, with three answer tiles per question.
4. Added stars and a garden where a sprout mascot grows a plant for every pack finished.
5. Recorded every word and question in advance with a warm voice, so the games read aloud.
6. Added a grown-ups page, privacy and terms pages, and tests that check every card and question.
