Remnant City has sold carpet, area rugs and flooring in Pittsburgh since 1970 and is now in its third generation. Its strengths are easy to feel in the showroom and hard to show online: the person who measures also installs, carpet is bought in bulk, and rugs can be cut to any shape. Customers kept arriving with the same questions, a sign the site was not doing enough of the work.

  1. Organized the site around what the store sells: carpet, area rugs, stair runners and luxury vinyl, with a page for services.
  2. Built a Latest Inventory section where staff post new remnants and rugs as they arrive and mark them sold.
  3. Wrote buying guides and articles that answer the questions customers ask most, so fewer need a phone call.
  4. Gave custom rugs their own space, since cutting a rug to any shape is a service big stores rarely match.
  5. Added a quote request form with spam protection that emails the store right away and sends a daily summary.
  6. Replaced stock photos with the store's own showroom and completed-work photographs.
