Interest in American mahjong has grown quickly, but teachers have no booking service built for them, so students search one teacher at a time. MajSeat gives teachers a place to book students, sell courses and run a community.

  1. Researched the mahjong market and competing coaching platforms, then wrote a business plan and a sourced list of about 1,900 prospective teachers.
  2. Built a teacher directory with search, coach profiles and state-by-state listings drawn from that research.
  3. Added lesson booking with schedule clash checks, a course catalog with a lesson player, and community spaces with posts and comments.
  4. Built an admin screen for approving teachers, plus learning articles and a glossary written to be found in search.
  5. Designed a look called The Parlor, then redid the site as a photography-led editorial design that works from phone to desktop.
  6. Wrote 14 launch articles and four course outlines, and imported them into the platform.

Built August 9 and 10, 2026 and checked against seeded demo data. It has not launched: it still needs a domain, payments and email.
